Drumroll Please ...

I finished Corinne's poodle skirt last night. I am really thrilled at how cute it turned out. I spent more time working on the poodle than making the actual skirt. Here is a peek.

 

Corinne is so petite the skirt doesn't flow as much as I would like so I went back out to JoAnn's (again) and picked up some tulle to make a petticoat. So just when I thought I was done .... good thing I didn't clean up my mess yet. Whole I was at JoAnn's I picked up another pattern to make a skirt too. I thought it would be fun to buy some glorious taffeta and make a real dressy skirt Corinne could wear for her 3rd grade music program. Have a great day!!!!

Happy Monday

It's the start to another week. We are being blessed with brilliant weather it's supposed to be 70 today. I am embracing the sun while it lasts per the weather man its will be raining on Halloween. BOOO! this does not make for happy trick-or-treaters.

Speaking of Halloween I should be sewing right now. I haven't even started Corinne's costume yet. I am not too worried it shouldn't take too long. I have learned the fine art of selecting the simpler patterns. This is what I selected to make this year (skirt only).

 

I am making the traditional pink with a poodle version. I should have photos in a few days to share.

A girl can dream a little can't she ...

A week or so ago I caught an episode of Tim Gunn's Guide to Style for the first time. It didn't take long and I was hooked. The show is much like What Not to Wear but the participants seem to me much more willing and open to the transformation. Tim's advise for the day don't buy a jacket with sleeves the same length as the jacket it makes you look like a box .... DUH BRILLIANT wouldn't you say so. Anyhoo I digress ... Tim presented his client with a charm necklace by Heather Moore.

 

This is just one of her pieces. I am so in love with the charm concept and the dangling gems. I tried to build my own necklace and they are a bit beyond my budget right now like I said a girl can dream.

Alive and Kicking

(note this is my 2nd attempt at posting this morning)

Where do I begin. Sorry for my absences lately I get the hint my blog needs a little TLC. So let's do a little recap of where I have been - soccer 6 days a week, keeping up with the house, book deadline #1, and trying to find time to hit the gym more than twice a week ... no more excuses I am sure you don't want to hear them.

How about a little project I did recently in the spirit of going green. After I got my son an Ipod shuffle I was left with this little clear container. Even my hubby thought I could so something "scrappy" with it.

I cut the patterned paper to fit inside the clear case and used a small amount of vellum adhesive to hold it in place. Then I wrapped it up like a present and topped it off with a custom gift tag made from Tinkering Ink Finery. The other supplies used were patterned paper from Tinkering Ink, ribbon from Making Memories, stick pin from Fancy Pants, scrap of pink cardstock and the new DYMO caption maker.
