The perpetual snow day continues ...

You know it's bad when the weather man has just given up and started putting question marks on the 7 day forecast. We are buried in nearly 2 feet of snow. I keep thinking it will melt and that it will stop snowing ... umm no dice. Santa is going to have to write some IOU's this year. I am not going to stress about it and just enjoy the beauty that is the snow. It's not like this happens every day around here. It's been 40 years since our area has seen snow like this.

   

Here's a snapshot of the house today. This photo doesn't do the snow justice. It's quite spectacular but so hard to photograph so much white on white.

Snow Day No. 2 & 3

When I decided to make holiday cookies I had intended to take most of them to school. Instead I am now living on a diet of baked goods. For breakfast I had a cookie, at lunch a cookie, snacks ... yup you guessed it more cookies. Being cooped up is starting to go to my butt. 

Enough about my poor eating habits. Let's talk stamps. I confess I was once deathly afraid of them. I was sure the minute the ink hit the paper I had ruined my project. My anal scrapbooking tendencies didn't help in this matter. I have managed to tackle some (not all) of my stamping phobias.  Here are some snow day cards ... they were all made with the same stamp from Tinkering Ink. I wanted to show how the same stamp can look uniquely different depending on how you use it.

 

 

 

As of right now school is on for tomorrow. The snow seems to be melting although it's supposed to freeze up and start snowing again later tonight. We shall see in the morning ...

Beautiful isn't it? But I certainly won't be attempting to drive anywhere as our street is now a sheet of ice. Apparently I am not alone in my need to not venture out school was cancelled today and tomorrow too. What did I do today ... baked cookies and lots of them. This will not make my trainer happy at all - shhhhhh let's not tell her okay.

So I finally finished my layout that had been collecting dust on my desk all last week. Taking last month off gave me a little perspective and after receiving a copy of Michele Skinner's  Your Words Your Story I was reminded of what I want out of my pages - great stories.  

  

Thanks Michele I guess I owe you a piece of pie.

Wednesday night ramblings ...

Sometimes I think it's best to just admit defeat and move on. I kept saying to myself I should blog in the morning but you know what I am not a morning person. It just doesn't work for me so I am not going to fight it anymore. So here I sit by the fireplace it's almost 10pm.

• About a year and a half ago I was asked to work on a great project - Amanda Probst's Month by Month Scrabooking Book well as of December 1st it was available.

 

• The weather man says SNOW this weekend. Snow happens here but it often doesn't accumulate or amount to much. I will keep you posted.

• The layout that is sitting on my desk waiting to be finished hasn't moved :(

• I put The Shack down and read The Host. Stephanie Meyer writes a great story I am hooked.

• We still haven't gotten a Christmas tree yet. I am having difficulties getting into the spirit this year. Although I did do some shopping today. Baby steps right ....

Nope you can't get rid of me that easy ...

I promise I am here - just went out of town for a few days. We went to Seabrook on the northern coast of Washington. For my Twilight friends I was 2 hours south of Forks. But I digress ... the community was straight out of postcard from the east coast (or at least what I envision the East coast should look like). There were walking paths, outdoor fire pits stocked with piles of wood, and the most beautiful homes.

 

On the scrapbooking front I have been doing a lot of writing. Spending lots of time on the stories I want to include in my scrapbooks. I guess it's my way of coming out of my funk. I have a page brewing on my desk as I type - I walked away to figure out how I want the title to look and make dinner. I haven't gotten back to it yet. More musings on journaling tomorrow.

Confessions ...

Please tell me how to be a better blogger cause apparently I need some help. It seems I go through the same process each month I come and post about how bad I am about blogging. Then I vow to myself (and you) to be a better blogger and so I post several times. Then life happens (how dare it) and I get sidetracked. The whole process then repeats it's self.

Then there is the scrap induced funk I have been in all month. I took some time off and I am not talking about the kind of time off where you just pretend to be off but you still check you email and surf the net. I went for days not even turning my computer on - shocking I know.

During my time off I did some reading - the whole Twilight series (2 times), I finished the Memory Keeper's Daughter (I have been reading that for over a year) and now I am reading The Shack.

The time off has revitalized me. I feel fresh again. So look out world here I come.
